Weekly Weigh-In: Maintaining

Current weight: 233.4 pounds
Since last weigh-in: +0.4 pounds

As long as I don’t get too out of control during this period, I’m okay. Just got to stay reasonable, and then I can refocus once I’m done with the bar.

Weigh-In: Recharging the batteries

Current weight: 233 pounds
Since last time: +18.2 pounds <– 2+ months ago!
Total weight loss: 94 pounds

Well, that sucks. I’ve had a good hiatus though, so it’s time to really jump back on the weight loss train and get in a groove again.

The girlie says that I can blame her for spending time away from the blog and weight loss activities. And while to some extent that may be accurate, the truth of the matter is that I made a conscious decision to step back for a bit. Now I’m reaping the benefits of that decision.

I kind of fell out of walking every day, but I’ve slowly started to pick it up. I need to get back into a groove, though. Over this hiatus I’ve hiked Spencer’s Butte twice and Pisgah once. One of those Spencer’s trips was just this week for the birthday of the girlie’s mom. I also got in a walk this morning and couple last week. I even marathonned last week from school down 18th all the way to Chambers. I haven’t calculated the mileage, but for those not familiar with Eugene, that’s a pretty good walk.

I might find some pics to bridge the missing gap as far as progress pics go. We shall see. Here’s to regular updating again!

Weekly Weigh-In: Gain of 3 pounds

2011 Start: 327 lbs. / 2012 Start: 225.0 lbs.
Last week: 211.8 lbs.
This week: 214.8 lbs.
Change: +3.0 lbs.
Total Change: -112.2 lbs / 2012 Change: -10.2

Last week was anomaly so I can’t say I’m too disappointed that I gained this week.  Plus, I’ve kind of gotten comfortable in the 210s.  Though I would like to continue losing to get down to under 200, I am comfortable with who I am in the 214-15 range.  So losing more doesn’t seem as important as it has in the past.  Maybe that’s just because I’m in a good place at the moment.  Who knows?  Anyways, I’ll keep trucking.  I’m not worried about it.

I’ve decided to discontinue the waist & body fat measurements.  The body fat one was just not all that accurate, and both of them didn’t really seem to add much to the discussion.  It was a nice experiment for a bit, but weight is really the only thing I’m concerned about at the moment.

Weekly Weigh-In: Gained 1.2 pounds

2011 Start: 327 lbs. / 2012 Start: 225.0 lbs.
Last week: 216.8 lbs.
This week: 218.0 lbs.
Change: +1.2 lbs.
Total Change: -109 lbs / 2012 Change: -7

Waist: 39.5 in. / Change: none / Total Change: -2.0 in.
Body Fat: 25.7% / Change: +1.4% / Total Change: +0.4%

Well, yesterday was St. Patrick’s Day, so I’m not surprised I gained. Especially considering the hangover I woke up with this morning! I did walk over 5 miles this morning with my aunt, so that’s good.

Also, finally decided to get rid of all my 2XL shirts and oversized pants, sweatshirts, and dress shirts. Making another run to the donation pile! I’m still in the middle of transitioning from XL to L, and I’m not sure what I’m going to do when I fully switch over.  I remember when I was happy to be moving onto 2XL. It’s kinda sad to see some of my fave tshirts go, like my Star Wars shirt and my Superman shirt! Oh well, guess I’ll just have to get some appropriately sized gear!

Weekly Weigh-In: .8 gain

2011 Start: 327 lbs. / 2012 Start: 225.0 lbs.
Last week: 221.2 lbs.
This week: 222.0 lbs.
Change: +0.8 lbs.
Total Change: -105.0 lbs / 2012 Change: -3.0

Waist: 40 in. / Change: -0.5 in. / Total Change: -1.5 in.
Body Fat: 25.7% / Change: -0.4% / Total Change: +0.4%

Bummer. I was really hoping to break my current 220s funks. Oh well. I actually don’t feel too bad about it. I’m fairly confident in my ability to bust into the 210s by next weigh-in. I feel like I’m on the right track to do that. It probably helps that I improved a little bit in body fat percentage and waist size, despite the gain this week.

I splurged a few times this week. Plus I had a good trip in Seattle last weekend. I also had my first Taco Bell in roughly a year. That’s pretty amazing I think. I should be back on track here on out, though.

Weekly Weigh-In: Another gain

2011 Start: 327 lbs. / 2012 Start: 225.0 lbs.
Last week: 226.8 lbs.
This week: 227.8 lbs.
Change: +1.0 lbs.
Total Change: -99.2 lbs / 2012 Change: +2.8

Waist: 41.5 in.
Body Fat: 25.3%

Time to get off the high of making my goal and buckle down for the next one.  This is frustrating.

Weekly Weigh-In: Gained 2 pounds :(

2011 Start: 327 lbs. / 2012 Start: 225.0 lbs.
Last week: 224.8 lbs.
This week: 226.8 lbs.
Change: +2.0 lbs.
Total Change: -100.2 lbs / 2012 Change: +1.8

Waist: 41.5 in.
Body Fat: –%

Ugh. But as I said yesterday, disappointment is good motivation to work harder the next week.  Here’s my excuses: I was getting over a cold and still getting into my Eugene groove.  I lost control Friday night and totally pigged out.  I didn’t really walk this week (it’s so cold outside!).  I walked yesterday and today though, so I should get that back on track.  I went food shopping yesterday, so I should also be eating out less.

I got a new scale that measures body fat percentage.  I’m not sure how it works and whether it is all that accurate though, since 49.2% seems really high.  I would think that my percentage would be roughly half that, but hey, it is measurement and as long as its consistent it gets the job done.  Maybe I’ll take a look at the manual and see if I’m supposed to do something to calibrate it.  (EDIT 1/19/2012: I figured out how to get more accurate body fat percentage readings with the scale so I’m deleting the 49.2% reading of this week since it’s totally off base).
