So close, yet so far away! We’ll break out of the 220s next week.

I bought a couple new suits yesterday.  Well, actually my mom bought them for me.  Thanks mom!  I purposely bought the jacket a little tight because a) jackets are rarely buttoned since I’m usually sitting down and b) I’m going to lose more weight so it won’t be too tight for much longer.  When I told the salesperson she was a little skeptical of me losing weight.  I’m sure they hear that a lot.  But my mom preceded to tell my story and then she was making all sorts of suggestions for bringing it in when it starts getting loose.  Not bad.  At some point I’m going to bring in my old suits to see if they can be salvaged, but I think they might be too big to alter them to my current size and not look odd.  I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Bummer. I was really hoping to break my current 220s funks. Oh well. I actually don’t feel too bad about it. I’m fairly confident in my ability to bust into the 210s by next weigh-in. I feel like I’m on the right track to do that. It probably helps that I improved a little bit in body fat percentage and waist size, despite the gain this week.

I splurged a few times this week. Plus I had a good trip in Seattle last weekend. I also had my first Taco Bell in roughly a year. That’s pretty amazing I think. I should be back on track here on out, though.

Close to cracking under 220!  We are officially back on track.  This week was good because I was a lot stricter on eating than normal.  I didn’t get out to the gym as much, but I didn’t let myself snack as much.  Which is good, because I’m going to be snacking away today whilst watching the Superbowl.  I’m not a huge fan of the NFL (maybe that will change when LA gets a team), but I do enjoy watching the Superbowl.  Even, when like today, I couldn’t care less who actually wins.  I wouldn’t mind watching Tom Brady lose, though, so if I have to root for a team it’s be the Giants.  Really, I just want to watch a good game with some awesome commercials.

I’m still not to sure about the body fat % measurement.  Oh well, as long as it stays similar we’ll continue to go with it.

Weekly Weigh-In: 2.2 pounds lost!

2011 Start: 327 lbs. / 2012 Start: 225.0 lbs.
Last week: 227.8 lbs.
This week: 225.6 lbs.
Change: -2.2 lbs.
Total Change: -101.4 lbs / 2012 Change: +0.6

Waist: 41.5 in. / Change: none
Body Fat: 25.1% / Change: -0.2%

I really needed a good weigh-in today for my own mental well-being, so I am really glad I had another good loss.  I haven’t quite made it yet to where I was at the beginning of the month, but at least I’m back on the weight loss train!  It feels good.

It’s been a lovely past couple days, albeit being a little cool.  Beats the never-ending reign of rain though, for sure.  I went hiking on Mount Pisgah yesterday afternoon and it felt good to be doing something intense outside for a change.  I really need to get back into walking the hills with my aunt because I was definitely feeling the climb and descent.

I’ve been trying to ramp up the intensity of my workouts lately because I’ve finally reached a point where I can’t just walk off the pounds.  I need to do more.  Upping my workouts though has had the unintended side effect of increasing my appetite.  I’ve struggled WAY MORE this year with not snacking.  I’ll do better.  I’m back in a good place this morning.

Weekly Weigh-In: Another gain

Time to get off the high of making my goal and buckle down for the next one.  This is frustrating.

Weekly Weigh-In: Gained 2 pounds :(

2011 Start: 327 lbs. / 2012 Start: 225.0 lbs.
Last week: 224.8 lbs.
This week: 226.8 lbs.
Change: +2.0 lbs.
Total Change: -100.2 lbs / 2012 Change: +1.8

Waist: 41.5 in.
Body Fat: –%

Ugh. But as I said yesterday, disappointment is good motivation to work harder the next week.  Here’s my excuses: I was getting over a cold and still getting into my Eugene groove.  I lost control Friday night and totally pigged out.  I didn’t really walk this week (it’s so cold outside!).  I walked yesterday and today though, so I should get that back on track.  I went food shopping yesterday, so I should also be eating out less.

I got a new scale that measures body fat percentage.  I’m not sure how it works and whether it is all that accurate though, since 49.2% seems really high.  I would think that my percentage would be roughly half that, but hey, it is measurement and as long as its consistent it gets the job done.  Maybe I’ll take a look at the manual and see if I’m supposed to do something to calibrate it.  (EDIT 1/19/2012: I figured out how to get more accurate body fat percentage readings with the scale so I’m deleting the 49.2% reading of this week since it’s totally off base).
